Enhancing Embrace's Dementia Care in Scotland
December 4th 2015
Staff members from Embrace Scotland completed their Promoting Excellence Training delivered by Alzheimer's Scotland this week.
Staff have been attending training days once a month since May in order to achieve the Level 4 Enhanced Dementia Practice Award in line with the Scottish Government's Promoting Excellence Framework. The level four framework teaches about meaningful engagement, confidence in working with people living with Dementia and understanding more clearly what it is actually like to live with Dementia.
The last day consisted of presentations from all the services on what they had learned and the changes they were already making in their services for their residents. The presentations were wonderful and every one of them was unique. It was evident that the staff had not only enjoyed this training but had taken their learning back to the homes and put it into practice to improve the quality of life for our service users.
Dawn Hamilton, Managing Director for Embrace's Scottish Services commented:
"It was pleasure to listen to these presentations and hear how innovative staff have been. All the staff have really enjoyed the training and it was delivered in an excellent manner by Alzheimer's Scotland. I would like to thank all the staff who attended over the last few months and also to Maxine and Jen from Alzheimer's Scotland."
