Care homes in the East and South East

We have 11 care homes in the East and South East regions, which provide a range of residential care, dementia care, nursing care, palliative care and respite care.

Our two residential care homes in the East are situated in the heart of Sawston village in Cambridgeshire and Ipswich in the county town of Suffolk. Our remaining care homes are dotted around Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Kent, including our stunning residential care home Meadow View which is situated in the heart of Hersden.

From Chigwell’s beautiful outdoor spaces, Chelmsford’s magnificent cathedral, Ilford’s historic houses to the haven port of Harwich, which features Redoubt Fort one of the South Coast most historic landmarks, there are a wealth of places to explore in Essex.

A short drive from the city of Canterbury, Hersden is nestled in the heart of Kent and is a 15-minute drive from Herne Bay, which has two miles of splendid seafront. Elsewhere in Kent, Erith boasts the longest pier on the River Thames and is a very popular angling landmark.

Formed after the Second World War, Hatfield is a small town located in an area historically associated with aircraft design and manufacture. One of its highlights is the grand Hatfield House, which has a historic Jacobean manor, impressive gardens and hosts a range of events, from musical performances to farmers’ markets. Hatfield also features an eighteenth-century working watermill, a forest – a National Trust site, as well as a cinema, theatre, a string of eateries and shopping centre The Galleria Outlet.

Meanwhile, our care home in Buckinghamshire is situated in the heart of Milton Keynes. Now registered as a city, Milton Keynes has a collection of theatres, an art gallery and a 30-year strong city orchestra, as well as Bletchley Park – a heritage site encompassing the iconic Second World War code-breaking huts.

Ipswich is a waterfront town with a picturesque marina off the estuary of the River Orwell.  Packed with art galleries, restaurants, there is always plenty to do here.

Sawston is a short drive from the beautiful Cathedral City of Cambridge. As well as the outstanding cathedral, visitors can enjoy the theatre, shopping outlets, restaurants, as well as punting on the River Cam and musical festivals at King’s College Chapel.

At Sanctuary Care our number one priority is to keep our residents, their relatives and our staff safe.

With the increasing number of reported cases of Coronavirus in the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to minimise all non-essential visits to our residential and nursing homes until further notice. These include routine visits from loved ones and friends, entertainers, hairdressers, volunteers, work experience students and school parties.

We have not taken this decision lightly and understand this will be upsetting for relatives who want to visit loved ones. We do feel this is the best way to keep our residents safe and is one of many proactive, preventative measures we are taking to stop this infection getting into our homes.

We do hope you understand why we are taking these precautions. Please don’t hesitate to call if you would like to speak to us directly if you have any questions or concerns.
